Adjunct Therapies & Treatment Options
The International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and the Western Veterinary Acupuncture Group have provided solid evidence that acupuncture has defined medical uses in equine and veterinary myofascial pain, neuromuscular disorders, intestinal motility, and even allergic dermatitis. Horses, dogs, and cats are especially good responders to acupuncture and we are pleased to provide this adjunct therapy.
Shockwave Treatment (ESWT)
Harmony Veterinary Services is pleased to be the only clinic in the local region to offer PulseVet shockwave treatment for regenerative healing in sport horse lameness and injury. A true spark-gap induced pneumatic pulse of soundwaves, ESWT has conclusive research evidence for improving healing potential and managing painful conditions in the horse and canine patient. Increased bloodflow to the treatment area stimulates bloodflow to release cytokines and proliferate growth factors. Multiple arthritic and chronic injury protocols speed healing time and return the patient back to performance quickly. Hock arthritis, soft-tissue/ligamentous damage, navicular syndrome and back problems are among the cases which respond well to ESWT.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
These days there are many ways to keep your competitive horse at peak performance level or maintain your child's arthritic 4-H mount in comfortable, sound riding shape. Harmony Veterinary Services provide several options for joint health including joint injections, intravenous and intramuscular medications including regenerative stem cell therapy, IRAP, PRP, and complementary body and exercise protocols.
